Adoption
An Adoption Order is an order giving full parental rights for a child to the adopters. At the same time the Adoption Order suspends the parental rights that any person had for a child immediately before the making of an order.
On the making of an order it is as if the child had been born to either adoptive couple or to the single adopter. For all intents and purposes adoptive parents are thus treated in law as the child’s parents.
Adoption is, therefore, the legal process by which the child becomes a permanent and full member of the new family. Adoption procedure can be difficult to understand and many people need guiding through the process since not only does it involve the courts and the child in question but also problems that may arise in respect of the child’s natural parents.
We can assist with this process by making an application and preparing the necessary documents and thereafter ensuring that all other parties are properly involved in the process and want to achieve a successful outcome. This can be achieved either by full representation or by giving you advice at various stages of the process after which you can proceed in person.
